- 6 Black Tea Bags
- 3 Cups Milk
- 3 Cups Water


Step 1

Add milk and water to a pan and bring to a boil. Add in rest of ingredients stir well.

Step 2

Remove from heat and leave to infuse for up to 5 minutes. Remove tea bags and filter through a strainer.

Enjoy hot or cold! This delicious blend can be stored in the fridge for later use!

Broccoli & Mozzarella Pasta Bake!
The perfect Herbed Up vegetarian dish for Easter Dinner!
(Serves 6-8)


- 1 Whole Broccoli
- 200g Cheese (mixture of mozzarella & mature cheddar)
- 500g Dried Pasta
- 2 Garlic Cloves (crushed)
- Small bunch fresh Parsley
- 1 Tsp Nutmeg
- 1 Tsp Mustard
- 1/2 Tsp Paprika
- 1/4 Tsp Red Pepper Flakes
- 1 Litre Milk
- 75g Plain Flour
- 75g Butter


- Add the milk, garlic and bay leaves to a sauce pan and bring to the boil. Remove from the heat and set to one side to infuse.

- Cook the pasta for around 5 minutes until it is just starting to soften, adding the broccoli for the last 2 minutes. Drain...

- Melt the butter in a pan and add in the flour, stir for 1 minute. Add the milk a little at a time (removing the bay leaves). Stir constantly to remove any lumps until sauce is thick.

- Remove from the heat and stir in the mustard powder, nutmeg, paprika, parsley, red pepper flakes and most of the cheese, saving around 1/4 for the top of the bake.

- Mix in broccoli and pasta and transfer mix to one large oven proof dish. Sprinkle over remaining cheese.

- If cooking straight away, place under the grill for a few minutes until topping is bubbling and golden. If you're preparing this tasty bake in advance, all you need to do is preheat oven to 200C and bake for 30-40 minutes until heated through.

Sensational Easter Potatoes!

Continuing the theme of delicious Easter delights are our scrumptiously seasoned potatoes. Packed full of flavour these soft and fluffy delights are sure to go down a treat with anything you cook up on the big day!

All you need:

- Potatoes, peeled & cut
- 1 Tsp Rosemary
- 1 Tsp Parsley
- 1/2 Tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/2 Tsp Paprika
- Salt & Pepper
- Vegetable Oil


- Add potatoes to a food bag and pour in a little oil. Shake until all potatoes have a light coating of oil (this will make them nice and crispy!)

- Add Parsley, Rosemary, Garlic Powder, Paprika, Salt & Pepper to the bag and again shake well making sure all potatoes are evenly covered.

- Place potatoes on a greased baking tray and cook for 45 - 55 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

- Serve up!

Stuffed Easter Carrots!

Having the family round for Easter? Make your guests chuckle with these quirky yet delicious stuffed carrot cone sandwiches!

Ingredients for carrot shells:

- 1 Ready rolled dough sheet (Available from mist supermarkets. You can also 
                            use puff pastry if you cant get your hands on this product)
- 1 Bunch of fresh Parsley or Dill
- 1 Egg, whisked
- Orange food colouring.


Now time to choose your filling! Stuck for ideas? Here are our favourites, take your pick.

Egg Mayonnaise & Paprika

Grated Cheese, Spring Onion, Marjoram & Creme fraiche.

Chicken, Bacon, Mayonnaise & Black Pepper.

Equipment you may need:

- 6 Cream Horn Molds
- Pizza Cutter


- Place the dough sheet on a chopping board and using the pizza cutter slice into strips around an inch wide.

- Brush strips with egg and roll into long sausage shapes. 

- Starting from the smaller end, wrap each sausage shape around the cream horn molds.

- Lay carrot molds on a non stick baking sheet and brush each carrot with the orange food colouring.

- Bake for around 8 minutes or until golden brown and leave to cool for 5 minutes.

- Remove each carrot from horn and fill with the with the filling of your choice! Don't forget to push a fresh sprig of parsley or dill into the top of your carrots for the finishing effect!

Easter Nests With A Twist

Put a spin on the traditional chocolate nests this Easter with our tangy Cayenne nests!


- 400g Milk Chocolate
- 1 Box Shredded Wheat
- 3 Tsp Cayenne Pepper
- Bag of Spicy Coated Peanuts
- Bun Cases


Step 1

Crush shredded wheat in a large bowl. Break chocolate in to pieces and melt over a pan of boiling water stirring continuously.

Step 2

Pour chocolate over the shredded wheat and mix well until coated evenly. Sprinkle in the Cayenne Pepper and again mix well.

Step 3

Press mixture into nests making a hollow in the middle for the eggs.

Step 4

Add 3 nuts to each nest and leave to set in the fridge for 2 hours.

Crunch into a deliciously nutty Cayenne nest for a taste sensation!

Tasty Cajun Popcorn

Perfect for a night in! This delicious treat is packed full of flavour and so easy to make. It also boasts fantastic health benefits from a range of different herbs and spices. So put down the crisps and chocolate and lets get popping!..


- 1/2 Tsp Cayenne Pepper
- 1/2 Tsp Paprika
- 1 Tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 Tsp Oregano
- 1 Tsp Thyme
- 1 Tsp Cracked Black Pepper
- Pinch of Salt
- Pinch of Sugar
- 3 Tsp Olive oil
- Popcorn!


Step 1

While your popcorn is cooking, mix all dry ingredients together in a bowl.

Step 2

Pour the olive oil over your popcorn and mix with your hand to ensure an even coating.

Step 3

Sprinkle over your delicious spice and mix well to ensure all popcorn is covered

Pop in a bowl and share with friends or family over your favourite film!

Jamaican Jerk Seasoning

Jamaican Jerk Seasoning is perfect to give any dish a kick of delicious flavour. Packed with wonderfully aromatic herbs and spices, we're sure that you'll agree that this rub is a taste sensation! Not to mention it's so simple to make, so raid your kitchen cupboards and lets get cooking!...


- 2 Tbsp Cinnamon
- 2 Tbsp Coriander Ground
- 1 Tsp Coriander Seeds
- 1 Tbsp Thyme
- 2 Tbsp Crushed Black
- 1 Tbsp Nutmeg
- 2 Tbsp Allspice
- 1 Tsp Ginger
- 6 Garlic Cloves
- 4 Large Red Chilies,
  Seeds Removed
- 2 Limes, Zest of 1,
  Juice of 2.
- 140ml Olive Oil


Step 1

Add all ingredients to a blender or food processor and whiz until a smooth paste has formed. Simple as that!

Step 2

Your delicious Jamaican Jerk Seasoning is now ready to use!
Rub your chicken, pork, beef or fish in the paste making sure to get a good covering! Fancy a veggie dish? This tasty seasoning is also delicious smothered over large slices of pepper, onion, and courgette. Cover your dish with cling film and leave to marinate in the fridge overnight. Your dish will be beautifully seasoned and ready to cook by morning!

Ginger, Strawberry & Banana Smoothie

Easter Treats - Hot Cross Buns!

With Easter less than 2 weeks away its time to get into the spirit and get stuck in with some fabulous Easter baking!
Everyone loves a deliciously warm hot cross bun straight from the oven so why not make a batch to enjoy with family and friends over the Easter period!

Ingredients - Makes 12

For The Buns
- 2 Tsp Mixed Spice
- 1 Tsp Ground Cinnamon
- 1 Tsp Salt
- 500g White Flour Bread
- 55g Sugar
- 100g Mixed Dried Fruit
- 25g Candied Mixed Peel
- 7g Dried Yeast
- 300ml Warm Milk
- 2 oz Cold Butter, cut into small cubes

For The Crosses
- 75g Plain Flour
- 1 1/2 Oz Cold Butter, cut into small pieces

For the glaze
- 1 1/2 Tbsp Warm Apricot Jam


Step 1

Add the flour, sugar, salt, mixed spice & cinnamon to a bowl and mix together. Rub the butter into the flour mixture using fingers. Next add the mixed peel and dried fruit, mix well. Sprinkle the yeast into the mixture and finally pour in the warm milk and mix using a spatula until the dough is soft and sticky.

Step 2

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until a silky smooth dough has formed, this should take around 10 minutes! Lightly oil a large bowl and place the dough inside, covering with a large tea towel. Leave to rise in a warm place until the dough has doubled in size, this should take around 2 hours.

Step 3

Tip the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knock all the air from the dough. Knead for 2 minutes. Divide the dough into 12 and roll each into a bun shape. Place the buns onto a lightly oiled baking sheet and curt a shallow cross into the surface of the buns. Cover with a clean tea towel and leave until well risen - this should take around 45 minutes.

Step 4

Preheat the oven to 220 degrees C. To make the crosses rub the butter into the flour adding 1-2 tsp of cold water, or more if necessary. Stir to create a thick dough. Cut the ball of dough into 12 and place in the fridge for 30 minutes - this will make the pieces harder and easier to roll. After 30 minutes remove pieces from the fridge and roll each into a long thin sausage. Cut each sausage in half and firmly press into the cross of the buns being careful not to knock the air out!

Bake in the preheated oven for 15 - 20 minutes or until the buns are golden brown. Remove from oven and brush the buns with the warm apricot jam.

Spinach & Ricotta Cannelloni

Ingredients Serves 4

- 1 Tbsp Marjoram or Oregano
- 1 Tbsp Basil
- 1/2 Tsp Nutmeg
- 1/2 Tsp Ground Black Pepper
- 2 Garlic Cloves, Crushed.
- 8 Handfuls Spinach
- 800g Tinned Chopped Tomatoes
- 400g Crumbly Ricotta Cheese
- 1/4 Cup Parmesan Cheese
- 200g Mozerella
- 16 Cannelloni Tubes
- Olive Oil

For the White Sauce:

- 500ml Creme Fraiche
- 1/4 Cup Parmesan Cheese


Step 1

So here's what to do! Preheat your oven to 180 degrees C. Heat the olive oil in a pan and add half the garlic, marjoram/oregano and nutmeg. Cook on a high heat for a few minutes until the garlic is soft.

Step 2

Put as much spinich as will fit into the pan, and keep turning over. Add more as the spinach begins to wilt until it's all in the pan. Cook for around 5 minutes and then transfer to a large bowl to cool.

Step 3

Head a little more olive oil in the same pan, this time adding the remaining garlic, basil, the chopped tomatoes and 1/2 cup water. Bring to the boil, adding a pinch of salt, sugar and the black pepper, simmer for around 10 minutes and remove from heat.

Step 4

Squeeze any excess liquid from the now cool spinach and then add the ricotta  and parmesan to the bowl, mix well. Use a piping bag to squeeze the mixture into the cannelloni tubes.

Step 5

Pour the tomato sauce into an oven proof dish and lay the canneloni over the top creating a snug fit! Mix together the creme fraiche and half of the parmesan with a little salt and pepper to make the white sauce. Spoon the sauce over the top top of the cannelloni rolls, drizzle with a little olive oil and sprinkle with the remaining parmesan and mozerella pieces.

Bake for around 25 minutes or until the cannelloni is bubbling and golden!

Dish out! Delicious with a lovely crunchy salad!

Delicious Veggie Curry!

Create a fabulous Veggie Curry from scratch! The aroma of these fabulous flavours is just heavenly, not to mention that these vibrant herbs and spices are packed full of goodness!
Get your hands on some tasty herbs and spices!
- 1 1/2 Tsp Black Mustard Seeds
- 1 1/2 Tsp Cumin
- 1 1/2 Tsp Chili Powder (or to taste)
- 4 Cardamom Pods (de-seed)
- 1 Tsp Turmeric
- 1 Tbsp Ground Ginger
- 2 Large Garlic Cloves (crushed)
- 2 Onions (finely chopped)
- 100g Frozen Peas
- 1 Can Tomatoes (drained)
- 100g Spinach
- 250g Carrots (always try to buy organic - carrots are great absorbers which means that are extremely nutritious, it also mean they absorb pesticides more so than other fruit and vegetables. Organic carrots are on of the cheaper organic vegetables, no need to peel!)
- 300g Potatoes

- 200ml Vegetable Stock
- 2 Tbsp Olive Oil
Step 1
Chop potatoes and carrots into chunks and steam until nearly tender.
Heat the olive oil in a latge pan, medium heat. Fry the cardamom and mustard seeds until they start to become fragrant and start to sizzle!
Step 2
Add in the chopped onions, stirring constantly until soft. Add the remaining spices - bay leaf, ginger, cumin, turmeric, coriander and chili powder and stir for 2 minutes. Strain the tomatoes and add to the pan.
Step 3
Now add in the carrots, potatoes and frozen peas. Cook for 15 minutes covering the pan (until vegetables are tender). Add in the spinach and cook for a further 2 minutes.

Serve up! Delicious with a soft warm naan bread or rice!

Go Nuts!

Grab a handful of tasty seasoned nuts! - great as a snack or for when you're feeling peckish between meals!
Nuts are full of goodness and along with the tasty herbs and spices provide a deliciously healthy snack!


- 1 Cup Hazelnuts
- 1 Cup Almonds
- 1 Cup Walnut Halves
- 1 Cup Pecan Halves
- 1 Tsp Cayenne Pepper
- 1 Tsp Oregano
- 1 Tsp Thyme
- 1 Tsp Marjoram
- 1 Tsp Sage
- 4 Tbsp Honey
- 3 Tbsp Olive Oil

What to do!

Step 1

Preheat oven to 220 degrees C.

Step 2

Add nuts, olive oil and honey to a bowl and mix well. Next add the herbs and spices and mix until all the nuts are coated.

Step 4

Pour nuts into a baking tray and bake for arround 30-45 minutes. Once all the liquid has evaporated and the nuts have started to turn golden, remove from the oven and allow to cool.

Pour into a bowl and let everyone grab a handful of these deliciously seasoned roasted nuts! MMMMM!

Gooey Cayenne Chocolate Truffles

We all need a little treat from time to time! That's why these delicious chocolate truffles with a kick are perfect for after dinner or sharing with friends!

Here's what you need!

- 9 oz Chocolate
- 4 Tsp Cayenne Pepper
- 2 Tsp Ginger
- 1 Tsp Cinnamon
- 1 1/2 Cups Icing Sugar
- 3/4 Cup Butter
- 6 Tbsp Cream

Time to get your hands messy!

Step 1

Gently melt the chocolate, butter & cayenne pepper in a bowl over a pan of boiling water on the hob.

Step 2

Remove from heat. Add cream and around 1 cup of the icing sugar, making sure to stir well!
Cover and chill overnight.

Step 3

To make the powdered coating for the truffles, mix together remaining icing sugar, cocoa powder, ginger and cinnamon together in a bowl.

Step 4

Now time for the fun bit!
Scoop out 1 tablespoon of truffle mixture at a time and use your hands to mould into a ball. Roll the truffle balls into the powdered coating making sure the whole ball is covered.

Aromatic Rosemary Smoothie

This wonderfully green smoothie lets you experience the fresh taste of nature and really will do your body the world of good!

- 1 Tsp Rosemary
- 1 Banana
- 1/2 Cup Blueberries (Frozen)
- Cup Spinach
- 1 Cup Water
- 1 Tsp Honey

Grab Your Blender!

Blend all ingredients for around 30 Seconds! Pour into a glass, and enjoy :o)

Stuffed Potato Boats!

Here at Herbed Up we have been working on some extra tasty recipes! Our Stuffed Potato Boats have proven a great hit with the whole family!


- 3 Medium Potatoes
- 100g Mature Cheese (Grated)
- 2 Peppers (Mixed Colours)
- 1 Tsp Oregano
- 1 Tsp Basil
- 1 Tsp Coriander
- 1/2 Tsp Paprika
- Olive or Vegetable Oil

Now here's what to do!

(The great thing about this dish is that you can cook the potatoes up to 2 days before for a quick meal when your on the go or after work!)

Step 1

Use the oil to rub into the skins of the potatoes (this will make sure they are nice and crispy!). Use a sprinkling of the herbs to also rub into the skin, you can also season them with salt and pepper if you like!
Step 2

Cook on 200C for around 1 hour or until the potatoes are golden and have started to soften. Set aside and leave to cool.

Step 3

Once cool cut the potatoes in half and scoop the soft potato out the middle into a bowl. Mash the potato centres to get rid of any lumps. Then add most of the cheese (leaving some to top the potatoes), peppers and sweetcorn, mix well.

Step 4

Add the oregano, basil and coriander to the mix. Carefully spoon the mixture back into the potato boats. Sprinkle with remaining cheese and paprika and place back in the oven for 10-15 or until golden brown.

Serve up with some crunchy salad! Let us know how you enjoyed these scrumptious potato boats!

Veggie Spring Rolls
Fresh and scrumptious, these veggie spring rolls are packed full of healthy veg, herbs and spices!

1 Tsp Ginger
1 Tsp Mint
1 Tsp Garlic Powder
1 Tsp Black Pepper
1 Tbsp Vegetable Oil
1 Tsp Soy Sauce
50g Shredded Carrot
50g Shredded White Cabbage
50g Bean Sprouts
3 Spring Onions
Spring Roll Wrappers
Sweet Chili or Plum Sauce (For Dipping!)
So Here's what to do!
Step 1
Heat the oil in a frying pan or wok. Stir fry all the vegetables for 2-3 minutes or until soft. Add the ginger, mint, garlic and black pepper.
Step 2

Add the soy sauce and stir well. Remove from the hob and tip the mixture onto a plate to cool for a few minutes. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees C.

Step 3

Divide the mixture equally between 6 spring roll wrappers. Add a dollop of the mixture towards one end of the wrapper, fold the ends in and roll firmly.

Step 4

Bake for 15-20 minutes or until crisp and golden. Serve with delicious sweet chili or scrumptious plum dipping sauce!

Spicy Sweet Potato Wedges

These really are delicious! Great as a healthy accompaniment to a meal or great as a snack when you've got friends round!

.... You'll wonder how you ever managed without them!

Here's all you need:

- 2 Sweet Potatoes
- 1 Tbsp Paprika
- 1 Tsp Cracked Black Pepper
- Pinch of Salt
- 1 Tbsp Olive/Vegetable Oil

Step 1

Peel potatoes and cut into wedges.

Step 2

Boil for 10 minutes. Add wedges to a oven tray or dish. Pour over the oil and mix well. Sprinkle over the paprika, salt and pepper and again mix making sure all the wedges are covered.

Step 3

Cook on 200 degrees C for around 30 minutes or until the wedges start to brown.

Dig in! These wedges are delicious served with sour cream or fresh tomato salsa! Mmmm!

Spiced Oat Smoothie

If you're looking for a smoothie that is healthy yet can keep you full right up until lunch time then this is the one for you!
By adding oats or nuts to smoothies you slow down the rate which your body absorbs sugar from the fruit into your bloodstream - this means that energy will be released more gradually throughout the day.

What you need:

- 1/2 Tsp Ground Cinnamon
- 1/2 Tsp Turmeric
- 1 Tsp Honey
- 1/4 Cup Oats
- 1/4 Cup Water
- 1/3 Cup Natural Yogurt
- 1 Apple, Cubed
- 1 Banana
- Squeeze of Lemon Juice
- 6 Ice Cubes

Add all ingredients to your blender and spin for around 30 seconds.

Pour into a glass and add a dusting of cinnamon to the top!

5* steak seasoning recipe

Sizzling steak seasoning

Use this simple seasoning recipe
on your sirloin steak or rib eye steaks for a flavour kick not to be forgotten.

Ideal for 4 pieces top sirloin steaks or 4 pieces rib eye steaks

Steak seasoning: 

  • 4 teaspoons salt (or more depending on how salty you want it)
  • 4 teaspoons paprika 
  • 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric

Simply mix together these ingredients and rub into each side of steak. Then simply grill the steaks on a large frying pan over medium-high heat.Sear the edges by using the cooking utensil and
